My Pregnancy Journey

I am happy to announce we are expecting a little boy in February.  I am excited but also nervous for everything to come but mostly just grateful.

I wanted to share a little bit about my pregnancy journey with you.

Earlier this year in January I found out I was pregnant for the first time. Shortly after I started getting cramps but didn’t think much of it since I had read that sometimes cramps happen and there wasn’t any bleeding, so I thought I was ok.

However, a couple weeks later the cramps got more intense and I started passing out.  Luckily, I was at home and my husband called an ambulance and they came right away and took me to the hospital.

Once I got to the emergency room, I found out I had an ectopic pregnancy and had to have surgery right away.  I didn’t even know what an ectopic pregnancy was. I have always had normal checkups and never had any health problems, so I was shocked.

I found out that my fallopian tube ruptured, and I had a lot of internal bleeding.   I ended up having laparoscopic surgery to remove my fallopian tube and had to get a blood transfusion.   I have never been in a medical situation where everything happened so fast.  I am so grateful for all the medical staff and ambulance workers for their quick action.

After the surgery I had to recover for a few months before we could try again.  Those few months were hard to get through, but I focused a lot on my DIY projects.

After allowing time for recovery we were fortunate enough to find out we were pregnant again.  I had a lot of anxiety at first about it happening again but at my 6-week appointment I found out that the pregnancy was in my uterus and therefore not ectopic again.

I am so happy and grateful to be in my second trimester now.  I have been busy planning the nursery and I have so many ideas that I want to share with you.

Stay tuned for more on the nursery design and planning
